Connecting to a data vendor like Bloomberg through API The following windows allow the user to define the various Time Series that can be retrieved from Bloomberg. One mouse-click in another small window will trigger the immediate update whenever needed. Importing data from a data vendor Various hedge fund data vendors like Altvest, Barclay, Eurekahedge, Hedgefund.Net, HFI, HFR and TASS provide data to their customers in the form of Access *.mdb files based on their specific data models. PackHedge™ connects to these files e.g. TASS.mdb and will translate them into XML based PAC files for aggregation into the PackHedge™ database. Automatic Import of data from custom Due Diligence forms Due Diligence Questionnaires can be customised in any layout for completion by analysts or fund managers and can include any of approximately 1,300 data and text fields with drop down menus for pre-defined fields to ensure data integrity. These customised Due Diligence Questionnaires are automatically converted into XML based PAC files for aggregation into the PackHedge™ database. Mass Import of multiple Instruments for any Time Series type Spreadsheets containing multiple Instruments (Funds, Indices & Currencies) and multiple Time Series types (NAV price, NAV return, AUM, Fund Breakdown, Index price, Index Rate, Index TV and Currencies) are automatically converted into XML based PAC files for aggregation into the PackHedge™ database. Integrating data from an Excel spreadsheet Quite often performance data is shared and sent via Excel files. The following windows show the ease with which PackHedge™ can open an Excel file, identify the relative columns and rows in the spreadsheet and then integrate all the appropriate data into the PackHedge™ database. Manual input and consultation of Time Series data Naturally PackHedge™ offers the ability to manually input data received by fax for the performance of funds, indices, etc... with detailed information about other sources numbers and tracability of colleagues' inputs. Vision In general terms, FinLab is dedicated to an on-going process of interfacing and adapting to more and more external data feeds. In addition, PackHedge™ has a special export and import file utility to and from other PackHedge™ systems in other locations within your company or from other PackHedge™ users around the world. |
